How to handle font sizes when your user is viewing your site on a 49-inch curved monitor.
The Scaling Problem
Responsive design used to just mean "make sure it looks okay on a phone." Today, the spectrum of screens is wider than ever. We have users on 320px wide smartphones and users on 5120px ultra-wide curved monitors.
If you use standard pixel or rem values for typography, your massive `h1` on desktop might look like a postage stamp on a 49-inch monitor.
Fluid Typography to the Rescue
The solution is fluid typography using CSS clamp. By defining a minimum size, a preferred viewport-based size, and a maximum size, your text scales infinitely and perfectly within your defined bounds.
For cinematic sites, the contrast between the largest text (the display heading) and the smallest text (the captions or eyebrows) needs to be extreme to create drama. We achieve this by letting the display headings scale aggressively while keeping body text legible and constrained.
